David Meerman Scott on Building a Fanocracy with Story (#111)

Storytelling with Author, Speaker and Marketing Strategist David Meerman Scott

He’s the only guest to return to The Storytellers Network (He was guest #1 here). In this episode, we get to kick off 2020 with a bang. Season 9, Authors, welcomes the return of David Meerman Scott. David’s written 10 books on marketing, sales and PR and his 11th published book is just out. This one’s special because he co-wrote it with his daughter Reiko Scott. I can only imagine someday writing with my daughters… amazing.

David and Reiko explore how to turn fans into customers, and customers into fans in Fanocracy. So whether you’re in marketing, you own a business, or you’re a storyteller who wants to learn how to build your own fan base, David and I are here to bring a ton of information and inspiration.

“If we live a life of passion, it’s a better life. It’s a more fulfilled life. You can build the best relationships because you share something powerful in common.” - David Meerman Scott on building a Fanocracy

Want to Build Your Fan Base? Passion is Infectious

David says one of the critical lessons of the book and of his and Reiko’s study is this: Passion in infectious.

When you have passion for something and you share that passion with the world, you build a fan base. When you have passion, you naturally attract your fans and build a following. This is true of artists, writers, musicians and yes, even businesses.

During the conversation David shares examples of businesses who have build fan bases through their passion.

“You are attracting fans by virtue of the passion you have for something.” - David Meerman Scott on passion leading to fans
